VI ENDO WEEK: Endovascular peripheral interventions

This 1-day interdisciplinary course is designed to teach practical skills in endovascular treatment of peripheral occlusive disease pathologies. The attendees can practice endovascular techniques, PTA and stenting in small groups on dedicated simulators. The main focus is lying on different techniques and the decision making process. For the simulator training sessions experienced tutors are available. The course is aimed for vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, angiologists and radiographers.

Course content

• To learn indications for treatment and the scientific evidence
• To learn endovascular materials and tools
• To learn the workflow of PTA/stenting in arterial occlusive disease
• To learn complication management and follow-up of patients
• To practice on real and virtual training simulators

10.00-10.30       Knowledge of materials and tools; special techniques, closure devices

10.30-11.00       Break

11.00-11.30       Workflow femoral artery PTA/stenting

11.30-12.00       Complication management and follow-up of patients

12.00-12.30       Distinctiveness of interventions in the popliteal segment

12.30-13.15       Lunch

13.15-16.45       Practical exercises on training simulators in four groups – rotation (45 min per station, one tutor each station):

Station 3: case discussions (case in the box)
